That guy you mention sounds like a idiot with way way too much wasted time on his hands. And the guy that started this thread reminds me of some of the people I run across when trading.

For instance I had a shield 16armor +1 death magic and +15 health I was selling. Guy asked me how much I wanted and I said 2k. Which then led to this little kid spamming me and the chat channel with jew jew jew jew.

Here is the bottom line you should all follow and it should negate any further discussion:

NOTHING SELLS FOR MORE THAN ITS WORTH. - im sure thats a concept that will confuse some of the kids, but, it is what it is and its right on the money ill help our less literate understand it.

If you want too much it wont sell. If you find the person with the dough that needs that item and will give you 300k then all is fair and fine. The bar is not set by "have nots" and never has been. If you dont have alot of dough you dont set the market price for anything and your bitching wont help you either.

As far as other items such as dye and runes then those prices are set according to how often they are sold to the merchants. If only a few people sell them to merchants then the price will be high. If someone attempts to sell a vial of dye for more than what it would cost to buy it from the merchant then either buy it from the merchant or don't buy it at all. If you give in to the over priced seller then we, the players, are causing the problem. Not the game's fault.
I totally agree. If nobody buys the items, the price will drop dramatically, then people will start buying them again, then price will rise. Its a cycle called inflation. If somebody is selling something at a higher price than you think its worth, dont buy it. Even better, start a good group and go to UW yourself. Pay the full price for your group so they will be good, and let loose

I give away my fair share of good items, and often sell things much lower than most other people are. However, imho nothing with max stats should go for less than 2k. I'll often set that as my base price for anything with max stats, regardless of whether it's lower or higher than what others are asking for the same item. And why?

It takes time and effort to get those items. If a person isn't willing to pay 2k for a MAX stat item, then they don't deserve to have it honestly. I can't stand it when I'm offering a max dmg sword or shield for 2k that can only be found late in the game and with much effort, and the person interested starts arguing how it's not worth 2k because it isn't gold or have a health bonus. Well if it's not worth it to you, then simple... don't buy it. Someone will come along who recognizes the value of the item and who does feel that it's worth it to them, and who might even think it's a deal at only 2k - and they'd be right.

Prices at the traders fluctuate depending on the time of the week and demand on the item. The rule of thumb is to take what the trader is selling it for and what they will buy it for, then split the difference somewhere in between for the asking price. However, I'll often get offers or complaints from those who are trying to rail me into selling it for less than the trader will give me for the item... unless I really like you or you're a friend of mine, then why would I want to do that? It may be monopoly money, but it is my recreational time that's being spent on getting the items and selling them, which has a value in itself. Devaluing what I'm trying to sell or berating me for being a rip off is devaluing my time and effort in bringing that item to your doorstep in the first place.

There are just as many "experienced" players out there trying to "rip off" sellers as there are buyers trying to gouge new players. The market would be a much better place if everyone respected each others time and effort in getting either the items for sale or the gold to buy them. I appreciate that it took the buyer a lot of time and effort to get up that 2k to buy this max weapon, and would appreciate it if the buyer did the same in recognizing what it took for me to bring it to them.

I hate these threads...

It's not so much that they're complaining it's because I KNOW if they found one of these "overpriced items" they would sell it for the same amount as everyone else.

That makes them giant hypocrites, congrats.

Thank You, This pretty much sums it up. ANYONE has the right to sell ANYTHING for whatever they want, the question is will someone buy it? Yes if you can find the right person. Stop complaining and go play GW. Have a nice day!

1) prices are naturally set by demand
2) you can progress fine in the game with cheap, clean items if you customize them

high-priced items are for perfectionists.

LOL! The original poster is probably a buyer. All the people complaining about high prices and how useless the items are are buyers. It's a useless item being sold for more than they can afford, yet they want it, so now they go in and complain. So it is not really useless, nor is the price high! I mean they want it! LOL!

I see them all the time. They see someone selling a collector item for 10plat, then they spam the channel saying its worth only two plat, they'll sell it for that. Then I go i'll buy it from you for two plat, and of course they never have any to sell! And no, i'm not the one selling. And it took me 6 hours to farm the rare materials I needed for my ascalon bow. BTW if you have the max collectors item for illusion cane and offhand, I'll buy it from you for 2k LOL! Prices will probably drop, but the last trade is always the correct price for these high level items. One month from now, when everyone has these max collector's items, then maybe the price will drop to 2k. But not today.

I myself have bought only the collector items and its worth the 12k I paid for it. Most items being sold are useless to me, but I don't go around whining about how expensive these "useless" items are!

So to the original poster, don't whine, just don't buy. They're useless anyway, right?
